METHODOLOGY & COVERAGE

A useful index earns your trust.

What is measured, what is excluded, and what the available data can honestly support.

THE MEASURE

The price of a changing economy.
Measured like for like.

AEPI follows publicly advertised prices of agents and their tools. A change is meaningful when the same provider, plan, charging unit and currency can be compared across observation dates.

published type × tier series

01

Match the same offer

Plan names, customer tiers, currency and charging units define comparability. A new plan, a missing plan or a renamed offer is not automatically a price change.

02

Follow genuine repricing

Only consecutive-day, like-for-like comparisons move the index. Gaps are never bridged; unchanged pricing text means an unchanged price by construction. Currency-translation wiggles are filtered and the filtered count disclosed.

03

Admit slowly, correct openly

A new listing enters only after its interpreted offer is confirmed on a second consecutive day. Suspect parses are quarantined until proven clean. Corrections create new dated releases — history is never silently rewritten.

04

Weight equally, disclose fully

Each contributing listing carries equal weight — the index is not spend-weighted, and listing counts are never presented as transaction volumes. Tier and type sub-indices are decompositions of one engine, not independent surveys.

What the headline includes — and what it does not

Included: monthly-comparable subscription prices — flat monthly plans, per-seat monthly rates (kept per seat), and annual commitments as monthly equivalents. Introductory discounts are recorded at their stated standing price. Non-USD prices are converted at daily rates.

Observed daily but not in the headline: per-call, per-token, per-minute and other usage tariffs; one-time purchases and credit packs; volume bands; per-outcome fees; percentage fees; free tiers; contact-sales plans (never coerced to a number). Monthly subscriptions, per-seat, usage and outcome charging units are kept distinct; indices broaden only after source eligibility and comparable units are audited.

Base 100 at the first day of published history (2026-07-05). Observation cadence is one scan per day (UTC); intraday movement is not measured. Engine version: aepi-ledger-v1. Original index source: Agentery.
